Thursday 5th January 2012, we bid a final farewell to Denis. As per his wishes, we cast his ashes off the reef at Hardwicke Bay, our favourite South Australian place for a summer holiday. Denis and I first came to Hardwicke Bay in 1988 for our honeymoon (which we shared with my parents – we had no money for a flash trip away). Thanks to the lovely Maddy for these amazing pictures…….
We gathered on the foreshore
A quick bubbly while waiting for everyone to arrive.
We ventured out to the reef.
A quick speech……
The first handful is cast…..
There was plenty to go around and everyone was keen to share……cathy and Paul,
The beautiful wreath was made by my fabulous cousin MaryAnn Bunn.
Again the wind did the right thing and the wreath floated away……
Another ‘bestie’, Tricia, was unable to attend so she sent along a bottle of scotch and we all toasted, ‘To Denis’….
Back at the shack for ‘The Ashes’ game….this was the member’s stand….
Not sure if this is back stop or the hill!
Nearly everyone got a bat and/or bowl.
It’s great when you have a dead end next door…no traffic!
Not sure if Denis was the wickie or the umpire….
A picture perfect way to end an amazing day…RIP Denis
